About Me: I was found in a cabbage patch(j/k)! I first got into the wibbly wobbly world of Mini painting/wargaming in 1990 after a friend had got Heroquest for christmas, I brought my first 2 games(Space Hulk and Space Crusade)for my birthday and brought my first citadel paint(yes one pot of paint!) a week later and proceeded to plaster the Terminators from Space Hulk in Blood Red loosing all their detail! Proud of myself I went on to buy more and more paints and ruin more and more minis :D
It took about 1 1/2 years to realise what highlighting and shading was and another year to implement it. By 1994 I could hold my own with a brush. In 1995 I got my "dream" job with GW and spent a few months loving my job until I got moved to the Merry Hill branch....
...Where it all went wrong and the then Manager(who still to this day I haven't forgiven, but then again he got "sacked" anyway!!!) basically shafted me to get my manager(at Wolverhampton) out. Dejected and saddened I carried on painting(what? you thought I'd let GW ruin it for me???). In 1997 I won both the Walsall shop leg and the Final leg of the Brass Nurgling Competition with my Redemptionist Crusade for Necromunda, later that same year I converted a Nurgle Preacher for the "Build a Bad Guy" competition and came joint first. A year later in 1998 I made it into the Final Cut of Golden demon's Warhammer Single miniature Category with Grom the Paunch on foot as well as coming second in the "Paint Aenur" competition for the free Mordheim mini.
I didn't do much painting for about 2 years after that, why? I haven't got a clue now!!
I picked up my brushes again in the spring of 2001 when I started to paint up my Goblin army. I also painted up 2 minis for Golden Demon, the first(and my favourite but now sold) was Plague Lord Scrolk and my second(painted in a full night before the competition) was the Imperial Preacher you can see in my gallery. Well sods law says it all and Scrolk got nowhere but the Imperial preacher got though to the final cut!!
Few years no competitions, but a lot of paintjobs and conversions, including one Hephestus(he's in the gallery)....
...Ah Hephestus, I entered him into the UK Eye of Terror conversion competition and forgot about it until one of my mates told me I was winning :o
I won it and then sold him on Ebay, as well as the Imperial Preacher, job done there!
2004: I was cajoled into entering the GW mini painting competition in Dudley by the Manager Drew, I came third with my Crusader, not too shabby either considering the competition!!
Anyway now im here again posting this while guiding(not teaching) my wife with her paint jobs, and she is a natural mini painter so expect more from her!!
Well a few more months have passed and I have now managed to get my first "official" painting job painting minis with a dedicated team of painters for Hasslefree, together we are known as "Paintslaves"(a name created By Peter Bell of SlavetoPaint.com fame!). I've also received my first commision for a member of the public!!! Go me!!!
Anyhoo stop reading this rubbish i'm putting up and get over to the galleries ;)
